I STILL READ FAIRYTALES … THEY’RE JUST SPICIER NOW.

In 2024 my first fairytale adaptation – A Taste for Blood and Lies: A Little Red Riding Hood retelling – was published in the ‘Ever After?’ anthology.

I ‘d written a few rom coms by this stage, and while I loved my Moonshine series, I was yearning for a bit of a creative change. When nI feel that need for something different, I write poetry and middle grade, so I thought why not try my hand at something else? Something new, where my imagination could really run wild. A fantasy maybe. So, I reimagined Little Red Riding Hood as a bad arse vampire bounty hunter with a penchant for leather and blood. Oh, and openly reading smut in public.

I adored her. She was everything I wanted to be in the biggest, baddest world I could imagine.

I didn’t set out to write a dystopian urban fantasy, but that’s what emerged and I fricking loved every minute of Blake’s adventure.

Knowing I wanted to expand this story into a series, I planned and plotted and evilly chortled away, wondering which character I’d make you fall for – then violently remove from Meridian Chronicles existence.

Then, a few months later, I had the opportunity to again contribute to another anthology –  ‘Frozen Fates’.

Originally the ‘Frozen Fates’ story was a Snow White retelling, but quickly poor Snow was out on her arse and the Beastly Senator Ezran Addam had taken firm residence in my mind. Because who doesn’t love a grumpy cursed man (with a big… um… library).

The Rise of Beasts and Bones: A Beauty and the Beast retelling was born.

It’s due to be published in early 2026, with the third book in the series – a Cruella DeVille inspired tale of a selkie with multiple personalities/identities/skins, will be coming later in 2026 also.

The Meridian Chronicles will probably end up being 5 books, all standalone interconnected fairytale retellings.

And I’m SO. FLIPPING. EXCITED!
