I have the most amazing group of friends. We’re not many, but we are mighty.

For years, we’ve called ourselves the Scooby Gang, Fantastic Five, the Fabulous Five, and so the list goes on. When COVID lockdowns became a reality, our regular catch-ups became (in an extreme understatement) extremely difficult. To keep our minds active and our connection strong, we underwent another transformation and became The Long Distance Book Club, taking turns to choose a novel to read and review as a group.

With each new transformation, we explored a new skillset, expanded our ability to connect despite the physical distances between us, and ensured that our friendship was fastened. After a year or so, another evolution occurred- we became The Sisterhood of the Travelling Story.

The idea was that one of us (drawn from a hat) would write a 500 word section of story, then pass it on, and so on and so forth, until all 5 of us had contributed 500 words each to a collaborative story.

I would have never guessed how much fun a communal story was and how it freed up my creativity to write a random brain fart of an idea. A 500 word fling.

As I read each chunk to my #1 enabler, I became convinced that, eventually, these stories should be shared with the world. Maybe one day we will publish our Sisterhood stories. I hope we do, because I am so proud of each narrative as it unfolds in twisting, turning ways!

Below is a taster- my hubby’s favourite character Steve. I hope you like Steve!

Until we meet again (physically, post-COVID), I thank the Sisterhood for their brains, their beauty, their brawn, and mostly, for their encouragement of my writing!
